This is such a beautiful, stately city. If you make everything out of granite, it tends to not only stand the test of time but add quality as well. The architecture is attractive. The city is relatively clean and small enough to get around in.
A number of features stand out. You have to go to the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. This gives you an understanding of the people's historical relationship to the sea, and an in-depth look at the history of the oil development in the North Sea. Aberdeen being its centre, of course.
Another standout is the Gordon Highlanders Museum. A storied history in the service of the British Empire for three hundred years.
One last mention. The Atholl Hotel, one of the coolest little pubs we found.
