We were in Brussels four days before the they blew up the airport, and we had just spent 4 hours in that lobby killing time.
The tension around Brussels, at least the parts we were in, was palpable. We stayed by a large park, close to downtown, which we did not venture into at night. The garbage collection services have been overwhelmed, as each container was overflowing for the duration of our 4 day visit. Garbage and dog feces, at least I hope it was dog, littered the streets.
This is a city that prides itself on a statue of a boy taking a leak into a fountain. Clearly, I need to learn more about it.
But it did have a fabulous aviation museum.
